Oral Histories and Testimonies

We have recorded interviews with over 130 Scottish Jewish community members who have played a leading role in communal life or have had an interesting story to tell (most have digital, searchable transcripts) – this also includes all the published transcripts in the Gathering the Voices series. We also have around 40 written personal testimonies.

Recording and transcribing interviews is an ongoing activity which we are happy to train volunteers to undertake.

In addition, we have personal reminiscences in Serving Their Country-Wartime Memories of Scottish Jews and Glasgow Jewish Journeys (2001) and Recollections of Child Refugees from 1938 to the Present (Scottish Annual Reunion of Kinder – SAROK, Glasgow, 1999) as well as over 40 autobiographies/biographies.
