Never Tell Anyone You’re Jewish
5 in stock
Maria Chamberlain is the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. She was born after the war in Kraków, Poland, and emigrated with her parents to Scotland in 1958 when she was 11 years old. They settled in Edinburgh, where she still lives. Her parents initially bid her to ‘Never Tell Anyone You’re Jewish’, but eventually they relented, recognising that intimate stories collectively make history. Her book tells their stories and those of the family members who perished.
Maria worked at Edinburgh University teaching and researching plant and fungal biology. Now in her retirement she still maintains contact with students as an Honorary Lecturer and Programme Secretary of the Botanical Society of Scotland.
