“One Man’s Forgery Is Another Man’s Antiquity”
Lenny Wolfe was born in Glasgow in 1952, son of David and Frieda. His father was at one time Deputy Provost of Greenock and his mother, a piano teacher, was the daughter of renowned Gorbals Chazan Meir Fomin. Educated at Hutcheson’s Grammar School, the Talmud Torah, Giffnock Cheder and Glasgow University (briefly), he moved to Israel in the
1970s, where he studied Archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he now lives. Lenny is a prominent dealer in antiquities, specialising in seals, amulets, early Jewish and Christian Art and the detection of forgeries. He has written several academic works and also curated exhibitions. In 2012, he acquired part of the so called ‘Afghan Geniza’ and was
