Barry Wolfe
Singer, Lawyer, Gangster, Spy.
A Serious Talk About Crisis Management (and Flying Close to the Wind)
Barry has had an unusual life which could have been lifted from The Godfather, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, or a Broadway musical.
He was born in Glasgow and his fascination with the underworld began at 15, when he read The Godfather, and fell in love with the elegant menace of criminal organisations. Instead of becoming a detective Barry studied criminology and criminal law at Edinburgh, then went on to study international law at Yale and Cambridge.
His career progressed onward as a consultant to Control Risks, the world’s top hostage negotiation firm, then he investigated financial crimes. In his varied career, Barry photographed São Paulo’s hidden underworld and through his human rights project SOS Dignity he has defended human trafficking victims.
His other interests include jazz singing and is currently training to be chazan at a Chabad synagogue in Sao Paulo.
