Remembrance Sunday

The Scottish Jewish Archives Centre is holding a Remembrance Sunday Special Open Day

Venue: The Archives Centre

Sunday 12th November 2023

Our guest speaker will be locally-based Naval Officer, Lieutenant (RN) Ian Player who represents the Armed Forces Jewish Community (AFJC), the organisation of serving Jewish personnel in His Majesty’s Armed Forces. His subject is “Trafalgar to Helmand – the impact Jewish armed forces members have had on Britain and how those serving today continue the tradition.”

A selection of material from our collections reflecting the experiences of those from the Scottish Jewish community who have served in the British Armed Forces from the Boer War, WWI and WW2 will be featured during the Open Day and there will be the opportunity to view the Prayer Hall of the A Listed Garnethill Synagogue.

This is a free event but donations are welcome.

This event is part of the programme for Scottish Interfaith Week 2023.

The Archives Centre will be open between 2pm and 4pm.

Entry will be via 29 Garnet Street.
