The Ockrims
A family history by Kenneth Collins
This book tells the story of the Ockrim family from its origins in Nowogrod in the Lomza District in Poland from the end of the eighteenth century. It follows the family of Litman and Shejna Leiba Ogrodnitsky and their children as most left Poland for Britain in the last decades of the nineteenth century, some eventually establishing themselves in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The brothers Icek and Yudka Ogrodnitsky became Isaac and Joseph Ockrim.
In writing this book contact was made with relatives far beyond Scotland – in the United States, Canada, South Africa , Australia, New Zealand and Portugal.
